On this day, I wore braids on top of my head and received many strange looks from people. I never knew there was something so curious about braids. We visited the Museum of Photographic Arts, where we took a journey through the United States of the past, a story told through pictures. We had a picnic while we people watched, marveling at the idiosyncrasies of the United States of today: a small yorkie in a pink stroller, poodles in sun glasses and visors, and people proclaiming Jesus Saves and Save the Seas. A constant stream of foreign people walked by, all of whom incessantly commented on the sunshine and the temperatures in the 70s. And this is supposed to be their winter, they stood around looking happily perplexed.
All the while, I read the story of a Burundian refugee trying to merely survive in the United States.
We live in a world filled with so many complexities.
Can you see me in the reflection?
Jesus Saves, Save our Seas.
