Picturesque Venice.

We found Venice to be quite romantic. As in every other city we've been to on this trip, our favorite thing to do was wander, happening upon canals and bridges along the way. We avoided the crowds and high prices by ordering food to go and eating many of our meals as picnics, leaning upon the Rialto Bridge looking out at the Grand Canal. More mouth watering pizza was consumed.

Venice also provided further adventures in attempting to travel on a budget. We found a place to stay through airbnb.com, which is the same website through which we are renting our place out over the summer. In Venice, we signed up to rent a room from our host Leonardo, which turned into renting his room and his roommate occupying the other room in the apartment, which turned into us pretending we were his friends, because his roommate didn't know he was making money from renting out his room. That was the story that evolved as we ventured into Venice, looking for a key which he was supposed to leave in an envelope at a restaurant for us. After trying two different restaurants, we finally retrieved the key; it was all kind of funny and eventually worked out fine. Plus, we were in Venice, which seems to exude magic around every corner.
