On taking photos.

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” -Elliott Erwitt, famous photographer

I love taking photos because it helps me take a moment to stop and appreciate something simple that catches my eye and brings a smile to my face... and then when I revisit the photo later, it makes me smile all over again.

I guess this is why I will continue to keep my camera nearby, even when I feel silly or awkward, because I truly do love seeking out beauty and joy through the lens of a camera. This weekend, I took a break from capturing life with a camera. I didn't take one photo all weekend, and I missed it, which is a good reason to pick it back up again.

(Photos taken on a recent walk through my neighborhood. The birds were lined up watching the sunset, and it was simply beautiful to me.)
